Buda Castle Wedding Venues
In Buda Castle you can hold a civil ceremony on a terrace, in a palace courtyard or in a hotel, and a church wedding in Matthias Church, the Lutheran church or the Royal Chapel. Wedding dinners range from 30 guests in a private room to 350 at Aranybástya or IDA Bistro.
Where can you hold a civil ceremony?
- Aranybástya: on the Private Terrace facing Parliament and the Chain Bridge, or at the lookout of the Hanging Garden.
- Fisherman's Bastion Restaurant: on the Danube Terrace, or on the Margaréta Terrace for up to 50 guests.
- Hilton Budapest: on request, the District I registrar conducts the ceremony in the hotel.
- IDA Bistro: in the riverside garden of Várkert Bazár.
- Royal Palace courtyards: the Lion Courtyard, Hunyadi Court and the Turkish Garden can be hired for weddings.
Church weddings in the Castle
- Matthias Church: Catholic weddings. Apply at least five months ahead; one partner must be Catholic, and only the couple can book the date.
- Buda Castle Lutheran Church: a wedding service after the civil ceremony. Apply about six months ahead.
- Royal Chapel in the Castle Museum: a consecrated space with about 18 seats and room for 40 standing.

What to check for a Castle wedding
- For a terrace ceremony, ask for a wet-weather space in the same building. Aranybástya, for example, pairs the Hanging Garden with the Exhibition Space in summer, and the Panorama Terrace with the restaurant all year.
- Plan guest parking early. A lift runs from the Castle Garage up to Csikós Court; other venues are reached by bus or the electric castle bus.
- Ask whether you can bring your own cake, drinks or caterer. Many Castle venues cook in-house and do not allow outside food or drink, and at Várkert Bazár only exclusive partners may cater.
Featured partners pay for this placement. It does not affect the order of the venue list.
