Company Christmas party in Budapest: when to book, and what to do if you are late

In 2026 the most requested dates for company Christmas dinners in Hungary are 10-11 and 17-18 December, and the average cost is HUF 40,000 per head. The best-value venues are usually gone by the end of September, but October still leaves options: weekdays, November or smaller rooms.

When do December evenings sell out?

According to Cegeshelyszinek.hu, a Hungarian venue platform, the most requested dates in 2026 are Thursday and Friday 10-11 and 17-18 December. The best-value venues are usually booked for these by the end of September, and in October the choice is much narrower (Turizmus Online, September 2026).

Large halls go first. In 2024 the most popular December dates at venues for more than 200 guests were almost all taken by mid-September, and more than half of company parties took place between 12 and 15 December (Turizmus.com, October 2024).

Late booking is still common. In the 2026 survey of the Hungarian Event Organisers' Association (MaReSz), 54.55% of responding companies said orders arrive no more than three months before the event (MaReSz survey, June 2026). You can still get good proposals for December in October, from fewer venues.

What does it cost per head in 2026?

Cegeshelyszinek.hu puts the 2026 starting point at around HUF 30,000 per head, the average at HUF 40,000 and the premium range at HUF 65,000 to 70,000 (Turizmus Online). These are national figures; in Budapest the 2024 average was HUF 50,000 (Turizmus.com).

Booking late: how to still find a place

• Pick a weekday. Thursdays and Fridays go first. Monday to Wednesday evenings are freer, and venues may be more flexible.
• Hold it in November. In 2024, 15 percent of companies had their Christmas party in November (Turizmus.com).
• Move it to January. A New Year dinner does the same job for the team and avoids the December peak.
• Split the group across two rooms. A company of 120 fits into two rooms of 60 if the venue has several spaces under one roof.

A Christmas dinner in Buda Castle

Buda Castle has private rooms for 20 and halls for 300, most with an in-house kitchen. What to put in your enquiry

• The date and at least one alternative.
• The number of guests, and whether you want a seated dinner or a standing reception.
• Your budget per head for food and drink.
• The programme: band, DJ, awards, speeches.
• The billing name, in case the venue asks for a deposit.
